Public meeting to discuss Kirkland mayor, council salaries Aug. 27

The city of Kirkland Salary Commission is holding a public meeting at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 27 at City Hall in the Council Chamber to receive public input and discuss possible adjustments to the salaries of the mayor and council members.

Public comments may be given at the meeting or submitted in writing to: Salary Commission, c/o City Attorney?s Office, 123 5th Ave., Kirkland, WA 98033 or emailed to rjenkinson@kirklandwa.gov prior to 5 p.m. on Aug. 27.

If the commission elects to change the salaries, the adjustment will be filed with the City Clerk and will automatically become effective.

The current mayor?s salary is $1,400 per month and the current salary for the council members is $1,100 per month. Members also receive life insurance and instead of receiving medical or other additional benefits, they are paid an allowance of $300 per month.
