Records detail criminal history of Utah man shot

WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah (AP) ? Court records show a man shot Monday after pulling a gun in a police station lobby in suburban Salt Lake City pleaded guilty in 1999 to child sex abuse and had his probation revoked in 2002 after violating the terms of the probation.

West Valley City police Sgt. Jason Hauer say 39-year-old James Ramsey Kammeyer told officers months ago that he wanted to be killed by police because he was a registered sex offender and his wife was taking his kids.

Court records show Kammeyer pleaded guilty in 1999 to felony child sex abuse.

Utah courts spokeswoman Nancy Volmer says Kammeyer was given credit for 120 days spent in jail and sentenced to 36 months' probation.

After he violated the terms in 2002, the probation was revoked and reinstated. He completed probation in 2004.
